To My Future Roommate:

Hi, my name is Audrey and I was born and raised in rural Salinas, California, (also 

known as “Steinbeck country”) where I’ve been spoiled with good weather my 

entire life. Seriously though, I break out my North Face jacket when the temperature 

dips below 60°F.

Singing is my passion, and I do it all the time: in the shower, in my room, while 

playing the piano, while I’m walking to class. I hope you don’t mind my impromptu 

concerts because as hard as I try to control myself, I can’t resist humming a good 

tune.

I also love to stay active. Field hockey is my favorite sport, but I also like soccer, 

swimming, and running. I’ve been skiing since I was four; apparently my parents 

tried to get me to ski at age 2, but I was too stubborn and wanted to make snowmen 

and drink hot chocolate instead. However, now I love to ski with my family, 

especially my dad. He’s somewhat of an expert, and he sometimes pushes me 

outside my comfort zone by taking my sisters and me on “adventure runs,” where 

signs like “Caution: Unmarked Obstacles,” “Proceed at Your Own Risk,” and “Danger:

Cliff” are readily apparent. However, I like the rush of adrenaline I feel on the ski 

slope. I love roller coasters as well, and one day I hope to go skydiving. You could 

call me a bit of an adrenaline junkie.

I’m looking for a home away from home in college. I live with my parents, younger 

sister, two dogs, and cat. My older sister is away at college, and her leaving was 

really difficult for me. With her gone, I’ve become closer with my younger sister, and 

we like to sing to music in the car, paint our nails, and bake cookies together. I hope 

to become good friends with you, because I’m looking for another person to call my 

sister when I leave for college.

I hope you are very tidy person, because although I like my bed made and my 

clothes organized in my drawers, that sometimes (usually) doesn’t happen.

However, I’m hoping your cleanliness will have a positive influence on me so we can 

both enjoy a spotless room.

I’m very passionate about school as well, and like to dive into the subjects I’m 

studying. I’m sure I will spend many late nights studying in the library, and 

hopefully we can be study-buddies.

I love to travel, especially with my family. I’ve visited several foreign countries, and 

I’m looking forward to a school trip to Italy and Greece next spring. Visiting all fifty 

states is on my bucket list. One of my fondest traveling experiences was a road trip I 

took with my mom and sisters across the United States three years ago. We visited 

impressive landmarks, such as the Grand Canyon and the Painted Desert, and also 

some sillier, more “touristy” places, such as the Meteor Crater (where we 

“experienced the impact”) and the Cadillac Ranch in Armadillo, TX. Those long car rides made for an unparalleled bonding experience. I also love to visit Virginia, 

where my dad grew up and where we meet up with his side of the family every 

summer. The town we visit is very small—there isn’t a single stoplight in the whole 

county and the closest Wal-Mart is 45 minutes away—but we enjoy spending our 

days hiking, sipping tea at a nearby hotel, or reading at the quaint public library.

I’m very excited to meet you, and I’m sure we will get along well!
