Much like Victor Frankenstein, I animate the inanimate.
After spending days scavenging for the right organs, I was finally able to craft my creature. I bonded the arteries and organs together eventually weaving an interconnected web of sinew and tissue – a nervous system. Eureka! A quick 12-volt zap of electricity imparted life to my creation.
I first dived into the world of computer hardware the night before my AP Psychology exam when I built my first computer off a YouTube video. The whole process – meticulously placing the components into the case, navigating tiny wires into their sockets, and nervously trying to find misplaced screws – captivated me.
In the UAE, where it is outright taboo for minors to work, I sell computers to help finance my education.
To add to my enthusiasm for computers, my face-to-face interactions and conversations with customers allow a glimpse into the multifaceted viewpoints of the expat community. Over the last two years, I have met people from diverse fields in life, often listening to their stories and sharing mine.
Building computers has not only allowed me to become self-supporting, but it has also entertained my curiosity for the world and those around me.
