I thrive off of community engagement, and Yale’s integration with New Haven excites me. I imagine myself participating in the FOCUS program, exploring the city and becoming involved with local non-profits. I would also seek out the opportunity to work with the School of Public Health’s CARE program, performing research to find solutions to New Haven’s health needs. These programs are products of Yale’s mission to improve the world, a goal that shapes the student experience. At Yale, college is not a bubble. It is a vehicle for a student’s connection with her community and her efforts towards its betterment.
