My intrepid intrigue in science has always been complimented by a sympathy for the human condition. Simply put, engineering represents just that: where science creates solutions. The choice of pursuing engineering to me was a no-brainer. As a result, I’ve done my best to explore everything under the sun which lends itself to creating potential solutions—from building better ways to grow food to teaching algorithms to locate microfractures in metals. I’ve experienced firsthand how unexpected breakthroughs are made when wildly different pursuits intersect.

The Pratt School of Engineering reflects my diversity of experience perfectly in its total embodiment of interdisciplinary learning and problem solving from Duke FOCUS to the IDEAS Program. Taking advantage of these, complimented with degree enhancements and interdisciplinary programs like REU For Meeting the Grand Challenges and Bass Connections, means at Pratt, there won’t be any limit to the number of ways I can approach my interests.
